How to Stop a Fixie
November 12, 2008
Fixie - Fixed Gear - whatever you want to call them they are awesome bikes. The single gear and the rider’s connection with the pedals makes them especially fun to ride, but stopping is always important - even more so when you’re riding one of these with no brakes. If you’re new to fixies and want to figure out the best way to not fly through a red light against your will, we suggest checking out Wired’s how-to-wiki for stopping a fixed gear bicycle. Whether you choose pace pedaling or skid stopping, be safe and have fun because riding one of these sure beats filling up your gas tank.
For those of you looking for a new rig to test out the skills that Wired recommends, the Bianci Pista is always a decent place to start ($549.99).
